License

You first have to apply for a provisional licence.

Theory Test

Your theory test will lasts for up to an hour, consisting of 2 sections. The first section is 50 multiple choice questions and you need to attain 43 marks for a PASS. The second section is Hazard Perception which consists of 14 one minute video clips all showing 1 hazard - with an extra hazard in one of the clips. To attain a PASS in this section you will need 44 marks.

Practical Test

The practical test will last 35-40mins. Before you get into the car you will start with an eye test, which is to read a number plate from 20 metres away. You will be asked 2 "show and tell" questions - then you will start the drive. You will be asked to do one reversing manoeuvre, possibly an emergency stop and sometimes a hill start, plus 2 independent drives (instructions are given to you that have to be carried out independently).
